Press Release: Business reality series to premiere in Feb
SINGAPORE: Asia’s latest business reality TV series “Angel’s Gate”, which is co-produced by regional broadcaster Channel NewsAsia, will premiere in February 2012.
It will also be shown on web and mobile platforms.
The programme offers budding entrepreneurs the chance to pitch their dream business ideas to venture capitalists and investors in the region.
Jointly commissioned with Interactive SG, Channel NewsAsia is co-producing the programme, with support from Singapore’s Media Development Authority (MDA).
It is targeting viewers on Channel NewsAsia as well as online, with content distribution partner, YouTube.
Season one of Angel’s Gate will feature 24 business ideas in diverse industries, ranging from biotechnology to travel.
Entrepreneurs on the show will have 30 seconds to pitch their idea to the judges.
Successful entrepreneurs will advance to subsequent rounds, where they will be advised on their business ideas and will stand to receive funding from investors.
Vice-president of Channel NewsAsia Network Programming and Promotions, Donovan Castillo Mohlman, said the regional broadcaster strongly believes in cultivating the entrepreneurial spirit and promoting the growth of new business ideas across Asia.
"This latest venture to develop and produce the Angel’s Gate television series offers the channel’s regional viewers an opportunity to witness the venture capital investment process for these ideas from the start," he said.
MDA chief executive officer Aubeck Kam said Angel’s Gate is a media project that is conceived from the outset to reach viewers through TV, web and mobile platforms to reinforce one another and increase value.
"It is an example of the kind of innovative multi-platform projects that are beginning to emerge from investments through MDA’s Singapore Media Fusion Plan," he said.
"We congratulate Interactive SG on securing regional broadcast of its Angel’s Gate through Channel NewsAsia, and welcome Channel NewsAsia’s investment into the property.
"MDA recently revised its grant schemes to be ‘360TV-ready’ and we look forward to the emergence of more projects like this in the future."
CEO of Interactive SG and creator of Angel’s Gate Ash Singh said: “Angel’s Gate is for anyone with a great idea. We’re very excited to build this project in Singapore and the Asian region, one of the best places in the world to start a business in these times.”
Development for Angel’s Gate started two years ago and season one is currently in the post-production phases.
Interested participants can submit their business ideas via the Angel’s Gate website.
